The Act grants data subjects greater autonomy and control over their personal data, ensuring that both public and private institutions handle user information responsibly.

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) serves as the designated Data Protection Authority, playing a crucial role in enforcing proper data management practices in accordance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) of 2024.
